GOLF: Charity Golf Day great success

Last Saturday we had 95 participants in the inaugural Coles two-person ambrose charity day.

This year’s recipients were Narromine Cancer Support.

The winners of the golfers section were Dudley Alcorn and Tony Mann with 59 1/4 from Chris Harding and Bob Fletcher with 60 1/4.

Third was Daniel Treseder and Andrew Hocroft with 62 3/4.

The ladies’ winners were Judy Barlow and Sue McCutcheon with 63 1/4 from Maida O’Malley and Vicki Gainsford 69 1/2.

The winners of the mixed were Bruce and Pat Mitchell with 64 1/2 on a count back from Steve Ward and Fran Crawford also with 64 1/2.

Non-golfer winners were Shane Wallace and Dave Bayliss 57 1/2 from Chris Dennis and John McMaster 59 3/4.

Nearest to the pin third was Heather Bootle and Neil Fitzgerald, ninth Bev Woods and Tony Mann, 10th Judy Barlow and Christian Green, 17th Sue McCutcheon and Geoff Swane and 18th Vicki Gainsford and Tony Mann.

Nearest to pin second shot on the sixth was Viv Halbisch and longest drive John McMaster.

Congratulations to the team from Coles especially Scott Richards and Betty Green.

On Sunday we had 27 starters in a 4BBB sponsored by Neil and Terese Haley which was won by Dudley Alcorn and Ash Bullock with 48 points from Alex Sambrook and Henry Buttsworth with 47 points.

Also on 47 points were Kale Bock and Brad Freeth.

Nearest to the pin ninth Terese Haley and Ross King, 10th Vicki Gainsford and Bruce Mitchell.

On Tuesday night we had 100 starters who battled very unseasonal conditions.

It was most unusual to see golfers wearing jackets in the business house competition.

The team with the best score were the Deep Divots with 87 points.

The best individual scores came from Dennis McGaw 25, Greg Butcher 25, Jordan Murphy 25, Mal McIntyre 24, Tim McGrath 23, Bud Cape 23, Tim Penson 23, Richard Duff 22, Lewis Lydon 22, Neil Ashdown 22, Ken MacLean 22 and Bob Fletcher 22.

Nearest to the pin third Tim Penson, ninth Greg Butcher, 10th birthday boy Sam Ward (the Big 40) and 17th Scott Magill.

Tomorrow we have a two-person ambrose sponsored by the Jets Old Boys and Sunday a three-person ambrose sponsored by Ag N Vet.
